Teen Week of Wheel, July 14-18 + Aug 1

Service Description

What to Expect Learn the Wheel – Centering, pulling walls, trimming, and finishing techniques. Create & Keep Finished Pieces – Throw multiple pieces and choose favorites for glazing and firing. Studio & Kiln Access – Learn how kilns work and the basics of clay and glaze chemistry. Small Class Size – Limited to 8 students for hands-on instruction. Schedule & Details Sessions: Five-day courses with a separate glazing day two weeks later. Time: Monday - Friday, 12 PM - 1:30 PM Location: Throw Art Studio (next to a café for parents waiting) Ages: 13-17 Cost: $300 per session Daily Breakdown Day 1: Intro to the Wheel Learn centering, pulling walls, and forming basic shapes. Day 2: Refining Forms Improve consistency and explore different shapes. Day 3: Trimming & Surface Design Introduction to trimming techniques and texture work. Day 4: Final Throwing Day Last chance to refine and complete pieces before drying. Day 5: Kiln & Firing Basics Studio tour, final piece prep, and discussion on firing. Glazing Day (Two Weeks Later, on Friday) Pick up bisque-fired pieces, apply glazes, and prepare for final firing. Summer 2025 Dates Each session includes five days of instruction plus a glazing day two weeks later. June 23-27 → Glazing on July 18 July 14-18 → Glazing on August 1 July 28-August 1 → Glazing on August 15 Parent Information Drop-Off & Pick-Up Drop-off starts at 11:15 AM; class begins at 11:30 AM. Pickup at 1:30 PM. What to Bring Clothes that can get messy (aprons will be provided) Firing & Pickup Teens will throw multiple pieces and select four to glaze and fire. Finished work will be ready for pickup 3-4 weeks after glazing (notifications will be sent). Registration Limited to 8 students per session. Reserve a spot early.
